http://www.ssagsg.org/LearningSpace/EntertainmentGaming/VideoGameControversy.htm

Shenglong, Bryan C., GOH C. Sheng, KOH Z. Han, LIN Jiaqi Jiaqi, and Dominic S. Kuangwei. "Video Game Controversy." ssagsg.org. N.p., July 2007. Web. 27 Oct. 2011.

In this article, the authors explain what video game controversy is, how it is thought to effect people, and some examples of it. Sexuality and nudity, violence, and religion are some of the many controversial topics of video games. The authors' intent of this article was to inform people of the topic and the intended audience would be anyone who wanted to read it. There are no apparent biases or fallacies. This was a very good article on this topic and it had a lot of information, although the examples of video games affecting real life seemed kind of bogus.

http://articles.cnn.com/2011-06-29/tech/violent.video.games_1_sale-of-violent-video-mortal-kombat-entertainment-software-rating-board?_s=PM:TECH

Gross, Doug. "The 10 Biggest Violent Video-Game Controversies." articles.cnn.com. 29 Jun. 2011. n.p. Web. 13 Oct. 2011.

In this article, there is a list of 10 of the most controversial violent video games, according to the author. on the list are some well known ones, like Mortal Combat, Doom, and Grand Theft Auto. Some of them are more recent, like Bioshock and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. The author also explains how some parents are worried about how these and other games will affect their children, and how some people actually took their issues to court. The authors intent for this article was to give people a list and explain some violent games over the years, and the intended audience would be people interested in the topic. There are no biases or fallacies. This article provided lots of information on how these games were violent and why they are so controversial.

Controversy on Video Game Violence

http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/video-game-violence2.htm

Layton, Julia. "Do Violent Video Games Lead to Real Violence?" howstuffworks.com. n.d. n.p. Web. 13 Oct. 2011.

This article explains how there has been a lot of controversy on if playing violent video games will lead to living a violent lifestyle. It says that the game industry itself is trying to prevent small children from playing violent rated M games. This, however conflicts with the intents of the people marketing the games-they are willing to sell it to anyone who will pay. The authors intent for this article was to educate people a little on what the video game controversy is about. The intended audience would most likely be anyone who wanted to learn more about the topic. There is a slight bias of the author thinking that video games don't affect the lifestyle of a person, but there are no fallacies. This article had some information, but not enough to make a sound argument.

What's More Important, Protecting Our Flag or Our Constitution?

http://www.aclu.org/blog/free-speech/burn-flag-or-burn-constitution

Fulton, Sandra. "Burn the Flag or Burn the Constitution?" aclu.org. 1 Jul. 2011. n.p. Web. 5 Oct. 2011.

In this article the author explains the issue of flag desecration and that some people have proposed laws against it, but then that would go against our first ammendment, the freedom of speech. She goes on to question what flag desecration actually means and how Congress should enforce a law against it, because desecrating the flag can mean many different things. The authors intent for this article was to convince people that making a law against flag desecration would do no good for our country because of how vague the idea of it is, and the intended audience would be anyone who was interested. The author really puts things into perspective in a good and effective way.

I dont think this would be a very good topic for me because its not really something that interests me enough to research it further. This would be a good topic for people against flag desecration to read to get another point of view from, and for other people interested in this topic as well.

Teen Curfews

http://www.gothamgazette.com/article/children/20060310/2/1783

Morron, Jennifer. "Teen Curfew." gothamgazette.com. Mar. 2006. n.p. Web. 5 Oct. 2011.

This article is about how some people want citywide curfews for teens under 18. The author goes on to explain how if a teen under 18 is caught out past midnight they can be sent home and required to work 25 community service hours for a first offense and 50 hours for a second. Parents can also be fined for letting their children out without adult supervision for about $75 for the first offence. The authors intent for this article was to inform people with an unbiased opinion about the pros and cons of teen curfews and the intented audience was people interested in this topic. This was a good article to read and gives very good information on the ideas and opinions of people who are concerned with teen curfews.

This might be a good topic for me because, hey, im a teenager! And i most certainly have a curfew. I think that theyre a good idea, but that doesnt mean that i have to like them. This would be a good topic for anyone else interested with learning things about teen curfews.

Abortion

http://www.xomba.com/abortion_the_controversial_issue

Alaire. "Abortion: The Controversial Issue." www.xomba.com. 5 Sept. 2006. n.p. Web. 29 Sept. 2011.

In this article the author states many facts and opinions on abortion. Her own personal view is that sometimes abortion is necessary, even though its a very hard decision to make, and that women should not be condemned. She presents the many instances in which abortions might have to be necessary and the side effects of it. The authors intent for this article was to inform people of the facts and consequences of abortion, and her intended audience was anyone who would read the article. She also presents a very obvious bias of being pro-choice. This was a very emotional article to read and it stirs up a lot of emotions.

I think this would be a good topic for me because im pro-choice and it makes me feel better that other people share my views. This would be a good article for other people who are pro-choice because it states lots of facts and opinions about abortion and is trying to convince more people to be por-choice.

Controversial Cancer Treatment in Czech Republic

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1172137/

Krosnar, Katka. "Controversial Cancer Treatment Sparks Row." ncbi.nlm.nih.gov. 27 Apr. 2002. n.p. Web. 28 Sept. 2011.

This article describes how a form of cancer treatment, called the "devitalization" treatment, has been experimented with and discussed over. The treatment consists of "strangling" the tumor inside of the body and then leaving it inside. Some argue that leaving the dead tumor in the body could lead to infection, but the doctor who came up with the treatment argues otherwise and suggests that it helps treat cancer. The author's intent for this article was to inform people of one of many treatments for cancer and the intended audience would most likely be people researching on this topic. This author has a semi-apparent bias of not believing this treatment to be a beneficial one. This article is sort of helpful in providing information on cancer research, but not extremely.

This topic doesnt really strike my interest, so I dont think it would be a very good topic for me. But it would be a good one for people wanting to know about different cancer treatments.

Teacher Teaching Hate Towards Gay People

http://www.change.org/petitions/lake-county-school-district-dont-let-teachers-teach-hate-towards-gay-people

"Lake County School District: Don't let teachers teach hate towards gay people!" change.org. n.d. n.p. Web. 22 Sept. 2011.

In this article, a teacher at Mount Dora High School was reported for teaching with an obvious disdain for homosexuals, and how some students reacted to it. It also includes some quotes made by him stating his obvious homophobic behavior. The authors intent for this article was to inform people of this teacher's behavior and to rally people to fight against his and many other people's actions against gay people. The intended audience is people trying to help gain more rights and respect for gays. There is an obvious bias, directed at being towards gay rights, but no fallacies. This article is quite emotional and informational.

I think that this might be a good topic for me if i researched it a bit more, because i find it intriquing. This would be a good topic for others who wanted to rally for gay rights because it is also a petition.

Controversial Drug Cuts Alcohol Consumption

http://alcoholism.about.com/od/cure/a/blucsf050119.htm

"Controversial Drug Cuts Alcohol Consumption." about.com. 19 Jan. 2005. n.p. Web. 22 Sept. 2011.

This article is about a new drug that has been proven to help treat addiction. This drug called Ibogaine,  derived from a West African shrub, has been used outside of the U.S. to treat addiction because it is not FDA approved. Scientists have done many tests on rats and mice by giving them an alcohol addiction and then giving them the drug. The studies show that the side effects of their addiction were significantly decreased. The author's intent was to make people aware of this drug and the intended audience was people who watched the news story and wanted to gain more information. There are no obvious fallacies or biases. This article was very informational and very scientific overall.

I dont think this would be a very good topic for me because its not really something that piques my interest, although i do find the article intriguing. This would be a good topic for others who are concerned about addictions and want to find a way to cure them.

Video Game Controversy Over the Years...

http://www.gamespot.com/features/6090892/when-two-tribes-go-to-war-a-history-of-video-game-controversy

Gonzalez, Lauren. "When Two Tribes Go to War: A History of Video Game Controversy." gamespot.com. Web. 15 Sept. 2011.

In this article the author goes about explaining the main history of video game controversy. There is a big debate over whether video games are beneficial or not to people's health and the impact that they have on people's overall lives. She gives information on how some people have been against video games since the first pinball machine and arcade. The intent that she had for this article was to educate people on the history of video game controversy and the intended audience would be anyone who would be interested. She has a generally neutral approach to the article but also hints at being towards the side of them not having an effect on people. This is a very good article on the history of video game controversy.

I think that this is a good article for me because i personally like video games and i found it very interesting and filled with good knowledge. This would be a good topic for other people who are also interested in video games and like knowing a bit of the history and arguments behind them.

Would You Want Your Baby to be a Clone?

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/science/fertility-expert-i-can-clone-a-human-being-1672095.html

Conner, Steve. "Fertility Expert: 'I can clone a human being.' independent.co.uk. 22 April 2009. Web. 14 Sept. 2011.

This article went about to explain how an American fertility doctor attempted to create a human clone. Since there are cloning bans in most countries of the world, his secret laboratory was most likely located in the Middle East somewhere with no cloning ban. The author informs us on how this doctor had implanted many cloned embryos into the wombs of four women, but without a successful pregancy. He also disclosed information about how he created cloned embryos of three dead people and fused them with cow eggs emptied of their genetic information, but did not implant them into any women because it was a form of research and experimentation. The authors main intent for this article was to inform people of the most recent updates of the experimentations and research on cloning. There are no apparent biases in this article because the author took a neutral point on it. He did quite well on remaining neutral and simply stating the facts.

I found this article quite interesting, even though i'm not really interested in the topic of cloning. I think that this could possibly become a good topic for me if i researched it more. This topic could also be acceptable for others because, in my opinion, it grabs attention from readers. This isnt really something you hear about often, so if theres anything really big or major in the changes in the research of it, theres going to be some interesting articles about it.
