"Controversial Drug Cuts Alcohol Consumption." about.com. 19 Jan. 2005. n.p. Web. 22 Sept. 2011.
This article is about a new drug that has been proven to help treat addiction. This drug called Ibogaine, derived from a West African shrub, has been used outside of the U.S. to treat addiction because it is not FDA approved. Scientists have done many tests on rats and mice by giving them an alcohol addiction and then giving them the drug. The studies show that the side effects of their addiction were significantly decreased. The author's intent was to make people aware of this drug and the intended audience was people who watched the news story and wanted to gain more information. There are no obvious fallacies or biases. This article was very informational and very scientific overall.
I dont think this would be a very good topic for me because its not really something that piques my interest, although i do find the article intriguing. This would be a good topic for others who are concerned about addictions and want to find a way to cure them.
